Assistant Professor
Department: Information, Risk & Operations Management
Research Areas: Supply Chain Management, Machine Learning
Junyu Cao is an assistant professor for The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business within the Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management. She teaches courses on decision science and statistics and modeling.
Prior to joining McCombs, Cao was a graduate student instructor for the University of California, Berkeley, where she taught in the university’s Haas School of Business and its Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.
Cao’s work was a finalist in the INFORMS IBM Service Science Best Student Paper competition for exceptional research in optimizing package delivery by creating a sequential approach model. Her research in machine learning and expertise on fatigue, dynamic learning, and social behavior has been recognized by several institutions, and she has been invited to talk at the INFORMS Annual Conference, the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, the Applied Probability Society Conference, and the International Conference on Machine Learning, among others.
Cao earned a B.S. in mathematics from Xi’an Jiaotong University and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
